Best Takeout Restaurants – Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Life can get chaotic, especially around dinnertime when everyone is hungry. When you’re a busy mom, planning a healthy and delicious dinner every night for your family can be daunting. Takeout to the rescue! I’ve survived solely on takeout at times, and it has saved me. But I don’t want just pizza every time I need a takeout meal. I want takeout meals that I feel good about eating and feeding my family, with fast and efficient options that make it easy to get in and out quickly.
Today’s post is all about my go-to takeout restaurants in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I’ve rounded up a list of the “Best Takeout in Coeur d’Alene” with my four favorite places, in order from favorite to least favorite. They will make your busy nights so much easier! You can thank me later. Enjoy!
(This post is sponsored by Birdie’s Pie Shop. While I was compensated for this blog post, my ranking of the four restaurants wasn’t altered. The information is accurate and true and reflects my honest thoughts and opinions.)
#1 Birdie’s Pie Shop
Birdie’s Pie Shop is hands-down delicious and my favorite place for takeout in Coeur d’Alene. Most people don’t realize that Birdie’s is more than just dessert. They make savory pies too that are the perfect fast dinner for your hungry family. Your kids will love them. The chicken pot pie, a flavor they make daily, is my favorite savory option for takeout. It’s a take n’ bake style, allowing you to bake it hot and fresh at home, so it feels like you slaved away in the kitchen all day making a home-cooked meal. (You don’t have to tell anyone that you didn’t!) The crust is flaky and buttery with a nice touch of herbs. The pie is packed full of vegetables and white meat chicken, so you’ll feel good about feeding it to your little ones. I love that I can pick it up any time of day at Birdie’s store-front, pop it into my fridge at home, and bake it later that evening when it’s convenient for my schedule.
Birdie’s Pie Shop started in Post Falls, but just recently they opened up their second shop in Hayden, Idaho. Their pies are sold in two different sizes– a whole pie or a personal pie. The pie flavors offered daily are – pecan, apple, key lime, triple berry, chocolate cream, and chicken pot pie. Their other flavors are offered on a rotating weekly basis, so call ahead and ask for their daily specials. Here’s a list of the savory pie options (the whole size is sold take n’ bake style while the personal size is sold already baked) offered at Birdie’s throughout the week–
Birdie’s Savory Pies
Chicken Pot Pie
Pulled Pork Mac n’ Cheese
Taco Pie
Spaghetti Pie
Shepherd’s Pie
Quiche Pie
If you’re craving something sweet to eat after dinner, don’t miss out on Birdie’s stellar sweet pies. There are so many delicious flavors that it is hard to choose a favorite! For a baked option, I love their triple berry pie with raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. For their cream pies, I die for the key lime pie and the raspberry cream pie. Maybe pick up a sweet pie for your next family get together or birthday party? You won’t be disappointed. They also offer “bites,” individual little bites of pie perfect for sampling different flavors. And if you are craving something cold for summer, get their “Piescream.” It’s a slice of pie of your choice blended with vanilla ice cream to create the ultimate milkshake! (Birdie’s is closed Sunday and Monday)

#2 The Mango Tree
The Mango Tree is my second pick for takeout in Coeur d’Alene. I’ve always been a fan of Indian food with the curries and naan bread. And you can’t go wrong with a nice cold glass of mango lassi. It’s one of my favorite cuisines. The Mango Tree in CDA knows how to make takeout easy and fast for busy families on the go. After a quick call into the restaurant, it’s convenient to swing by and pick up my order. The wait is never too long, and they are fast, efficient, and accurate. The curries are packaged securely so I don’t have to worry about spills or leaks as I travel home. It’s easy to dish up the food quickly, pouring the curry over the rice for a tasty and healthy meal. The curries also save well in the fridge for a few days if you happen to not get to it as soon as you’d like to. It heats up nicely and tastes as good as new. Don’t miss the coconut curry and the mango curry with garlic naan bread. It’s my go-to order when ordering from The Mango Tree. And parents! Don’t assume your kids won’t like Indian food because it is “spicy.” You can request a spice level of 1 - 5, so order a dish at a level 1 and your kids will love it! Mine does!

#3 Drummin Up BBQ
Ordering Drummin Up BBQ on a busy weekday night will make dinnertime much easier. It’s my third favorite place for takeout in the Coeur d’Alene area. Drummin Up BBQ is a food truck located on Government Way. They make delicious BBQ comfort food that your whole family will love including pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, brisket, Pepper Jack macaroni and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. My favorite is the macaroni and cheese. It has the perfect amount of spice and is so creamy! And if you want something fun and local, snag one of their huckleberry lemonades. They package their food conveniently and tightly, so it’s ready to go and easy to transport home. The service is fast and efficient. It is always enjoyable ordering food from them because of their great customer service. My whole family is happy when Drummin Up BBQ is on the dinner menu. You really can’t go wrong ordering takeout from here. Be sure to check them out!

#4 Chinatown Restaurant
Chinatown Restaurant is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Coeur d’Alene. They do fabulous takeout. The food is fresh and delicious, made hot to order. Their portions are generous. They serve the best sweet and sour chicken, and I love their chicken chow mein. Don’t miss ordering their walnut shrimp. It is consistently a family favorite over here at the Hembree household. Chinatown Restaurant makes ordering takeout quick and easy for those busy weekday nights. And the best thing is they never mess up your order. They get it right every time and really pay attention to the needs and desires of their customers. Try them out and let me know what you think!
